The Dance and Traditions of Performing Arts
A documentary project about Kuchipudi, the classical dance of Andhra, and how it is carried, taught, and remembered within the Indian-American diaspora.
Made across studios and stages in Atlanta and in India, it follows dancers and teachers keeping a centuries-old form alive far from where it began. The pictures sit between documentary and portraiture, paying attention to gesture, atmosphere, and the small moments that carry meaning.
It asks how heritage travels: what gets kept, what changes, and what it takes to hold on to a tradition across an ocean and a generation.
“This project is not just about dance, but about preserving heritage, identity, and cultural memory across generations.”
